The summer season starts in May and continues until end of the October in this typical Mediterranean Climate City. It’s very hot in the summer season. Because of that Göcek guests spend their daily time at the beach or near the pool. March and April are very ideal months for observation the nature awakening with spring. Eco tourism season starts in these months. The temperature isn’t goes down fewer than 10 Celsius in the winter and it reaches almost 40 Celsius in the summer. Mediterranean climate is reigning in Göcek region. The climate experts have formed climate areas and they name this region as west Mediterranean of Turkey. The general climate type is dry and hot summers, rainy and lukewarm winters. Because of that in last tree years winters and summers are warmer then earlier.
For example the heat is reached 42 Celsius in August 2006. The rain level was decreased 40 % in 2007 winter. As well as the minimum Celsius didn’t decreased 10º in winter 2007. The maximum Celsius was increased 52º Celsius in June 2007 in this region.
The average heats are; 30-36º in the summer, 3–10º in the winter in this region. Depends on the observations; the maximum Celsius was 52º in 27 June 2007, the minimum Celsius was -4º in 9 February 1976. In last 40 years it snowed once here in 19 December 1992 and reached 3-4 cm thickness.
Karacaören, Gökçeovacık and Taşbaşı areas are a little colder because of they are established 400-1100 m height. But İnlice and Göcek are very hot in the summer. The breeze and wind which comes over the mountain during nights is relieved the region and people who lives here.
The folks who likes to live with nature is arrange their farming and daily works according to months, years, storms, rains, colour of the clouds, form of the cloud, side of wind, move of the moon even move of the ants with old experiences.
‘Meryem Fırtınası’ (Mary’s Storm) starts on 15th Octobers, ‘Balık Fırtınası’ (Fish Storm) starts 27th Octobers and winter season starts middle of the Decembers. The old people understand that events, depends on the cloud colours and arrange their farming according to that. It can understand be understand situation of the moon that the rain will come or not. If the thunder’s voice goes to east, it means dryness will start, if it is cloudily in mornings beginning of the month (in Rumi Calendar), it will be rainy end of the month. If the ants to pile up their foods to the south like a crescent, it will be rainy. If the crescents tip’s is turn to the north, it will be windy. If the clouds to scatter from west, it will be clear.
