Göcek is south west of Turkey and tree side is surrounded by Taurus Mountains which are on the Muğla - Fethiye highway. The transportation of this zone was difficult before because of the uneven land. After with Fethiye-Dalaman highway was enlarged and now the transportation is much easier to reach Göcek. Göcek tunnel has completed in 2006 and as 930 km and according to that the transportation problem of Göcek passage end ramp is over. While tunnel start working, Göcek and Dalaman international airport distance is reduced to 22 km.

The distances to other central places of Göcek like below for the visitors who prefer to come Göcek by highway; Fethiye 28 km, Dalaman 19 km, Muğla 100 km, Marmaris 103 km, İzmir 310 km.

The bus firms who are Kamil Koc, Pamukkale, Metro, Ulusoy etc. has bus connections between Göcek and other big cities like İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara… There are two car parks in Göcek with 100 car capacity front of municipality and 30 car capacity front of Gendarme. In the summer season it is not allowed to enter to city centre by car between 09:00 - 13:00 and 16:00 - 24:00.

It is possible to find a charter flights from many European countries in the summer season and also possible to find regular flights for all year round to the International Dalaman Airport which is 22 km away. It is another option that has 12 months regular and charter flights distance of 210 km in Antalya.

A lot of people who lives in big cities, wish to spend their holiday in the Göcek at the weekend coming to Dalaman Airport about 50 minutes fly. On the other hand Göcek has a land for helicopter can land.

You can find ferryboat all year round between Marmaris - Rhodes and only summer season between Fethiye - Rhodes.

If you prefer to come Göcek by the sea the distance are between Göcek and other place is; Fethiye 10, Marmaris 46, Bodrum 118, Çesme 227, İstanbul 497, Finike 88, Antalya 139 sea mile. Göcek has 4 different marinas for yachts with a lot of services variety.

Göcek and İnlice doesn’t have any transportation problem because they are settled on the Fethiye - Mugla highway. You reserve your seats on the busses by their offices or via internet. Transportation is so easy with the minibuses between Göcek and Fethiye. You can find their time table below. Gokceovacık and Karacaören villages have own minibuses. If you turn left on the Göcek waist you will reach Gökceovacık and Karacaören villages. This road is asphalt and in good condition.

GÖCEK TUNNEL

Göcek ramp was being a real difficulty for the traffic which is also border of Dalaman and Göcek. It was the bad dreams of the driver with curves, slippery ground unprotected cliffs. It was effecting negatively that the tourism increased in this region in latest years.

The first step of building Göcek Tunnel was 40 years ago but the government gave up this project because the ground was slippery and rotten. In the past several speculations has made about this project by the politician especially during election but it was not true.

The rules have changed in May 2002 as invest, operate and turn over. It is adjudicated in May 2002 but building not started until May 2004. After surround preparation and other preparations finish digging work started in May 2005. Digging work has completed in May 2006 and after 3 months other preparations the tunnel start service on 21st July 2006. The 40 years longing was finished.

The tunnel one way is conduct, one ways is coming. The tunnel length is 926m, width is 7m and height is 7.30m.
