For many years Göcek has been spoken about in terms of yachting tourism. However since the 1980’s it has developed an accommodation sector and in recent years has started to offer excellent accommodation at an international level.
Before the 1980’s there was no accommodation established in Göcek. Therefore the Göcek people who had houses near the sea side would dedicate one or two rooms in their property as a pension for Göcek visitors. Eventually owing to the increase in demand over a few years, all rooms were arranged as pension rooms and houses were built for themselves inland. Because of the difficulties using houses as pensions and the poor services, they were forced to build modern accommodation units.
Before you consider the accommodation available within Göcek you should acquaint yourselves with the various tourism styles within the region.
You will see many pensions and small boutique hotels in Fethiye region. There is only a handful of all inclusive, high quality, five star hotels in the Fethiye area. There are many small, friendly boutique hotels which go to prove that big hotel chains are not necessary in this region. The benefits of this kind of accommodation are a friendly atmosphere, local natural foods and you free to do whatever you wish. There will be no tour operators forcing you to take part in activities not of your choice you will feel the real freedom of Göcek by making plans and choices for yourself. The local traders and shopkeepers will not pester you to buy their goods whilst you walk through the streets of Göcek. As with most places in turkey you will find there is an un-written price list and local traders encourage the practice of bartering. As an aside you will not hear loud disco music in the Fethiye region like other touristic areas.
You will notice some distinctive characteristics when you arrive at Göcek. As soon as you turn towards Göcek from the highway you will notice there are no buildings more than 2.5 floors (entrance, second and roof floor). The reason for this is, since the 12th June 1988, the by environmental protection agency in Turkey passed a law that protects the Göcek area. You can find many old and new houses, villas, pensions, apart hotels and boutique hotels combined together in Göcek. You will not find built up areas here but you will find smart, clean, good quality construction. The average holiday home you will find awaiting you will be constructed of wood, reinforced concrete or stone surrounded by natural green gardens.

As there is no nearby beach within the centre of Göcek therefore nearly all the accommodation blocks have swimming pools in their gardens. If you wish to visit a beach for swimming there is a shuttle minibus between Göcek and İnlice beach during the day time. You can also go swimming with daily trip boats which start every morning around 10:00 am and finish 18:00 or if you prefer take a shuttle boat next to the municipal marina office and go to Göcek Island which run every hour on the hours. If you are looking for above average or very high quality service, you can choose a holiday village or smart hotel which is also available in Göcek.
If you are a sea addict, you might prefer a pension by the sea side where you can watch the blue sea, daily tripper boats and wonderful bays. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a magnificent blue view every morning?
Göcek has very limited accommodation therefore you may have difficulty finding a room or villa in the peak summer season. We suggest you book your room early to ensure a peaceful holiday.
